TANGRAMA is a partnership of:
Nicolás Consuegra / Colombian / Holds a BFA from the Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá, and an MFA from Pratt Institute, New York. Nicolás brings his visual arts background as well as his long-time involvement in graphic design to each of the projects he develops. At Tangrama, Nicolás works on publication design, visual identity, and product photography. Several projects he has developed have been recognized by graphic design publications, including Taschen’s LOGO DESIGN Vol. 2, in 2009.
Margarita García / Colombian / Holds a BFA from the Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá. With a dual background in fine art and graphic design, Margarita is interested in print media and its applications in the field of fine art. Margarita is the art director for a wide range of publications for Tangrama, and she is also on the editorial board of
Revista Asterisco (an independent art magazine).
Mónica Páez / Colombian / Holds a BFA from the Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá, and an MFA in Digital Arts from Pratt Institute, New York. Mónica specializes in print design (especially books and art catalogs), and digital information design for websites. She has worked as a designer for several major art institutions and nonprofits, including the Brooklyn Museum, New York; Columbia University, New York; and Luis Ángel Arango Library, Bogotá. Aditionally, Mónica has worked for Bitforms Gallery in New York, and
Artforum magazine. At Tangrama, she works on editorial and web design.
TANGRAMA HAS A NEW MEMBER IN OUR TEAM
María Jimena Sánchez has joined us as a junior designer.
María Jimena Sánchez / Colombian / Holds a BA in Industrial Design from the Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá. María Jimena is interested in graphic design and it’s application to editorial and information design. In Tangrama, she works on the design and layout for different publications and web projects. Additionally, María Jimena has worked in design information for different research projects at the Universidad de los Andes and has developed several pieces for the Chemical Engineering Faculty at the same school.
THE ASSOCIATES
Tangrama has teamed up with a group of design and editorial professionals that collaborate on various aspects of projects, including publication design, the creation of graphic identity, web design, and editorial support. These associates are:
Alberto Cervantes / Mexican / Holds a BFA from the Design School/National Institute of Fine Arts, Mexico City, and an MS in Communications Design from Pratt Institute, New York. Alberto specializes in information design, editorial design, and advertising, as well as projects requiring an interface and interactive design. He has worked for Televisa, McCann-Erickson, and the Wall Street Journal, where he has combined his experience in both print and digital media. Alberto has won awards for his work in the National Biennial in Mexico and from the Society of News Design in the U.S.
Thomas Hines / American / Thomas is an interactive designer and developer interested in building unique and user-friendly online experiences. He is currently the Interactive Designer at the New York chapter of AIGA. His clients include CNN, MagnanMetz Gallery, Grizzly Creek Films, and The History Channel, among others. Hines received his BFA in Graphic Design from Oregon State University and is currently pursuing his Masters of Design and Technology at Parsons The New School in New York.
Jessica Lott / American / Jessica is an arts/catalogue editor for several major art institutions and foundations in New York, including the Brooklyn Museum, New Museum, Joan Mitchell Foundation, and The Studio Museum in Harlem. She is also an art critic, whose reviews have appeared in magazines internationally, including frieze (London), Planet°, and New York Arts (U.S.), and Errata# (Bogotá). Her writing has won several awards, including the Arts Writer's Prize from the Frieze Foundation in London. She holds two Master's degrees, in Literature and Creative Writing. At Tangrama, Jessica is the editor of the English-language texts.
María Villa / Colombian / María holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Philosophy with a concentration in Politics and Ethics from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, where she also studied Fine Arts. She has been an editorial advisor for various projects in the art and architectural fields and has edited graphic novels and children’s books for Norma book publisher, and academic texts (essays, reviews, and pedagogical material) for several cultural institutions in web and print media. During 2008–09 María was a consultant and researcher for the development of programs of cultural citizenship for the Ministry of Culture and Corpovisionarios. She is a Spanish-English translator and proofreader. At Tangrama, María is the editor of Spanish-language texts.
